I receive lots of newsletters and emails from blogs, from other demonstrators, and from Stampin' Up! itself. Today, I received one from TGIF Challenges, #TGIFC219, and I had to rise to this challenge.
I have gotten emails from TGIF Challenges for a while now, and have meant to work on them before, but this is the first time that I have sat down the day I read the email and just gotten to it. This week's challenge is to use three of this year's new 2019-2021 In Colors: Rococo Rose, Purple Posy and Seaside Spray. I have all of these, and I have the paper for Woven Threads, which also uses them, and so I thought... perfect!
Since I am still working on cards for my Mom's order, I figured I could kill two birds with one stone - make a card for the challenge, and do it as a sympathy card as she asked for a few of them. I got out the colours of cardstock from my scrap stash (I have them in page protectors, labeled and organized alphabetically in a lovely grass basket I had sitting around). Since Purple Posy had a card blank sized piece, that was what I used!
I went through my stamps, trying to find current sets that might work. I figured since I was using current colours, I would try and make it all with current products. Finally, I decided Well Said and Well Written would fit what I needed. I chose a couple of pieces of Woven Threads DSP, and then grabbed my Stitched Nested Labels dies and some Whisper White cardstock too.
I started by choosing my layers, knowing that I wanted the DSP to be the centre of the card and a focal point. I used the dies, cut out a bunch of different pieces, and sat down with some tweezers, my Take Your Pick tool, and a silicone mat to assemble some of the pieces together to add some colour and interest. I have extras left over, so I will use them with another card later on.
The white of the background die cut seemed a little bit plain to me, so I ran it through and embossed with my Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder. That was the touch it needed! It went really well with my DSP choice too.
The butterfly is actually two different papers, and I flipped the DSP cutouts in the centre from top to bottom to create a bit more interest and contrast. I used a glossy accent glue overtop, and added some faceted dots in the In Colors too.
I think it turned out great! I love it when a plan comes together :-)
