My New Wonder
I loved this set from the moment I saw it. I knew that it was a set that I could do something wonderful with, and I did just that yesterday. I made this card for my daughter's birthday.
As usual, I went to my browser and Googled the set name. As it is a new one, a hostess set in the newest Annual Catalogue, New Wonders doesn't have a ton of samples out there yet. I saw several that got me going, and then went to my own supplies to see what to do with it. I used one from Painted Orange that got me started. I changed up the colours, and the overall design, but this was my starting point for sure. I love how the one stamp naturally lends itself to being put on a corner.
I started by stamping the image on some Whisper White cardstock, and sat down with my blends to colour it. I used colours that my daughter would love: Balmy Blue light for the wings, with a bit of the Color Lifter to lighten it, Highland Heather on the skirt, and retired Coastal Cabana trio to do her shirt. My daughter is strawberry blonde, so I used light Crumb Cake and both Pumpkin Pie blends to do her hair. Ivory finished her up for the light skin tone. Mossy Meadow was my go to for the foliage, and some light Pineapple Punch for the paper shading.
Next I wound up choosing my DSP. I had the gingham pastels from Sale-a-bration, The blue one, using the smaller gingham check, seemed just right. I didn't like the whole image on the gingham, so I used my Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out a rectangle. I fussy cut the image - some of the swirls got sacrificed as they were a bit too fussy! I placed it on the rectangle corner and cut the corner off to mirror the image shape.
A bit of Basic Black mat, and a Whisper White card base made it just perfect. I had some gemstones and ribbon that worked, all dollar store finds, and that was the perfect touch.

When I worked on the white rectangle, I ended up with a frame that was a bit large for the front, so I decided to use it inside. I put some of the scrap gingham in the centre, and stamped the sentiment. The perfect final touch! I decided to add some decoration to the envelope to round it all out, and this was the result.
I am pretty proud of this one as it is mostly my own design.
