Peony Garden Suite
The new annual catalogue for 2020-2021, like last year, has included some beautiful suites of products. The first one that i just had to get was the Peony Garden Suite.
The DSP was the first thing to catch my eye. It is soft and romantic, filled with soft Petal Pink, Basic Gray and Gray Granite, allow a base of Whisper White.
The flowers in the cling stamp set are, of course, peonies, which just happen to be one of my favourite flowers. Mine have been blooming the last week or so, and they make me smile every time I see them.
The vibrant, colourful and full blossoms just make my smile bright. As soon as I saw peonies, I was sold.
It came in my package delivery just yesterday, and after seeing another demonstrator (totally serendipitous timing) just this morning in her video explains how to use the dies, I just had to try them out. She was right... super easy! (Sorry, I don't recall whose video... if I do I will edit and add a link!)
There are some very odd shaped dies in the set, but once you see how they work, they are so easy to use and make beautiful flowers in a snap.
The four dies through the diagonal middle, the ones with the slots, actually make four parts of the flower. Using the slots, you actually slide the pieces into one another to make the flower.
For the first couple, I used some colored paper in some different pinks. By adding the stamen piece in yellow, it was simple to make a pretty flower. The next one, well that one put it over the top.
I punched out all of the pieces, including the stamen, from one piece of quarter sheet Whisper White. When I had all of the pieces die cut, I took a sponge dauber and used Flirty Flamingo to ink the edges of the petals with some soft coral pink tones. Once that was done, I layered the pieces, adding some liquid multipurpose glue at the bottoms as I did. The stamen I coloured with some Daffodil Delight, again with a sponge dauber.
I didn't even get so far as making a card, and I was in love! I did make a card after I got over how pretty it was. I used some scraps of green and made leaves, which have the detail dies to layer the shading onto them, and then used a green card base from a half sheet of card stock, and then paired it with a yellow piece edge cut with a die from the set, layered with Whisper White to hold the peony. A bit of multipurpose glue Nd some dimensionals behind the top edge of the flower, as well as one of the sentiments stamped in Garden Green, and i had one of the most beautiful cards I have made to date.
In order to make this card, you do need a die cutting machine to use the dies. Stampin' Up! Has a new Stampin! Cut & Emboss Machine that will be for sale very soon, but other machines work as well. Other than that, paper and adhesive is all you need to have a great start to making beautiful peonies. Add some ink and the stamp set and voila... limitless possibilities. The Peony Garden Suite adds some beautiful coordinating DSP, ribbon, gems, some lovely doilies, and an embossing folder you can also use with a cutting and embossing machine. By buying the Suite, you have coordination and save 10% on the stamps.
