Using what you have...

I had a friend that knew I make cards ask me to make Thank You cards. They were for an older man, and needed to be classy yet simple. I looked through what I had, and found the perfect stamp set to use.
So Very Much, a retired Stampin' Up! set, was just right.  It doesn't matter to me if sets are not current.  I love them and use them all the same. Some demonstrators will only use and keep current product. That is just not me. I get rid of things I haven't loved, haven't used, but the ones I do will always be with me.

I used the feature Thank You on the front of my card by embossing it in black. I used Whisper White craft ink to stamp, then the black embossing powder on top and melted it with my heat gun. A strip of Cherry Cobbler, cut at 1/8th inch,  accented it nicely.  I then roughed up the edges of that with a knife.

For the base, I used Basic Black and embossed the front with the retiring Old World embossing folder (available until supplies last). I loved the texture it added to the front and inside of the card.

The inside of half of the cards was simply the "for your kindness" sentiment from the set, and the rest were left blank.

I have an older die set to cut liners for the medium envelopes,  and used some old 12x12 patterned paper to line the white envelopes. I thought it really added a nice touch. One of my favourite Stampin' Up! demonstrators,  Jackie Bolhuis, always says never have a naked envelope or inside of the card.  I think I managed that nicely this time.

Never think that just because your things are not necessarily current that they can't be of use. Adding current colours, using new embellishments or new techniques can still make great projects.
