Hockey playoffs means more craft time for me...
My husband is not a huge hockey fan. He likes the Edmonton Oilers, follows their record, but isn't so invested that I spend many nights losing him to a game on TV. Playoffs... well, that is a different story.
I have never been a hockey fan. Yep, it's true. I'm a Canadian that is NOT a hockey crazed individual. They really do exist. But since my husband has been watching our team in the playoffs, and I generally am not really much for watching, I have been spending more time crafting lately.
Two bonuses have come from this situation. I think I found a way to stop craving trips to the cupboard for snacks, and... I have gotten to do something I love doing and not feel like I am abandoning Phil by retreating to my craft space and spending time basically ignoring him! With the release of the new annual catalogue for 2022-2023, I have had a few orders of new things come in lately. It has been fun getting to try some new colours, new stamps and new paper.
One evening, I spent some time checking my stamps and making sure that I had all of them catalogued ( I made a spreadsheet with all of my supplies entered in sheets according to category of supply and then by name). I added a few that I missed, deleted some that have left my collection, and made sure they were all accounted for. It was so easy now that my space is so easily accessed and well organized.
Doing this seemingly tedious chore gave me the chance to remember and refresh my connections to my stamp sets and led me to using one that I had not as of yet. Awesome Otters was released as a Sale-a-bration set in January and February, and I managed to get two of them. I knew my girlfriend would be keen to get a hold of that one. It was fun to stamp, colour with my Stampin' Blends, and fussy cutting the otters out to use in several cards. I mixed them with some Simply Marbleous DSP, also free during Sale-a-bration this past January, and wow. I love the effect. It looks like the Otters are actually swimming in water.
I stamped several of the little guys out and made a variety of cards with them. I tried a couple of the blend colours out. I decided that Cinnamon Cider looked better than the Soft Suede ones, but used them all anyways.
After I finished up my otters, I turned to the new Tea Boutique Suite. I love the new 2022-2024 In Colors, and this suite has all of them in the DSP. Plus, well, it's tea! I love relaxing with my favourite teas year round, hot, iced or anywhere in between. There are even flowers and lemons in the set, and the cards turned out fabulous if I do say so myself.
I think it is great that I have gotten the chance to get reacquainted with my stamps after my space was out of commission for so long during renovating. And I think I am coming into my own with my cards too. Finding my place, reaching a zen like spot in my Stamping Spot ❤
