Vintage Stippled Roses
I love quick and simple cards, but everyone always says that it is a good idea to push yourself and try new things, right? This card is that for me.
I used the Stippled Roses bundle of stamps and dies. I started with a Pebbled Path card base, scored and folded it and set it aside. Next came the base layer. It is made with Very Vanilla, which I ran through the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. I inked up the folder with Wild Wheat, and then dabbed on some Pebbled Path over that before I ran it through. I love the vintage feeling it gave that layer, and it really helps to pull the colours together.
Next, I created 3 matted layers of cardstock and DSP. The top piece is actually a stamped background paper that I made with some Basic White, the small rose stamp, Calypso Coral and Wild Wheat inks. It is mostly hidden, but gives a nice backdrop behind the die cut flowers. I used the edge of some scissors to rough up the edge of the different layers to give them a bit more of a vintage feel. The Wild Wheat gives it that antique look as well. That colour is starting to really grow on me!
The dies were cut from Calypso Coral and Wild Wheat, which I then snipped off the budding blossoms from one to glue on the other. The larger flowers were added to the small flower bases on the leaves, and then I used the rest to cover up and hide glue spots and awkward bits at the end. Only the very top layer, sentiment and some of the flowers are popped up with dimensionals and glue dots.
I added the natural fiber bow, some sequins, and roughed up some of the edges of the layers. After that was all assembled, I made a layer from Very Vanilla for the inside, and stamped the edge with the small rose and a sentiment. I used my blending brush and the stamp to dress up the envelope flap as well.
I think the way that everything coordinates pulls it together. If you don't have the DSP, you can always stamp your own with the stamp set to create different backgrounds for the three layers. I couldn't find my new brayer to ink up the embossing folder (darn that thing...), so I just used a sponge to get it inked up.
