May 2024 Class
I decided to use Unbounded Beauty DSP and the new 2024-2026 In Colors to make the folder and note cards. I chose this lovely Summer Splash floral which was flanked by a Petunia Pop abstract on the opposite side. It took a bit to figure out how to score the paper so that the side I wanted was facing out, and to make sure that the direction of the paper worked the way that I wanted it to.
Once I was able to make the score lines, I started the folding. First, I folded the triangles on the corners inward, then the sides to create the trim. Folding the rest of the lines, I flipped it over and tucked the sides together to form the pockets. I DID learn that it was important to use a bone folder to make sure the folds were crisp. It all fits better when you do.
I chose a ribbon in Summer Splash to match the folder, although I decided after the fact that 8 inches rather than 6 would be much better when tying the ribbon to shut the folder. (Yes, size DOES matter lol). The ribbon is fastened to front and back by tucking it in behind the trim with a couple of glue dots.
Next, I started working on the note cards. Because I was trying to feature the new In Colors, I chose to use as many of them as I could to make the notecards. Another new colour was added as well: Basic Beige. Using the Basic Beige ink, I stamped the image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set on each panel of coloured cardstock. The Basic Beige made it look like it was a very subtle tone on tone, which was the subtle effect that I wanted. I used the same ink to apply a sentiment to the corner of the panel.
After stamping, I decided it needed something more, so I used a blending brush and added a bit more depth to the edges of the coloured panel. After doing so, I adhered the panel to a layer of Basic Beige card stock, and then used dimensionals to pop it up on the note card. I was very happy with the final look of the card.
I was very happy with the final project, but I think I may yet add a focal layer to the front of the folder yet. I plan to use some of the matching dies for the Layers of Beauty stamp set and create a bit of a fussier look to the front before I gift it to someone.
