Crafting for Charity
My parents are great supporters of my crafty life and the things I make, so when Mom asked me a favor I just had to agree to help out. My parents are constant and consistent volunteers at their church. This fall, the church is holding a garage sale fundraiser. Mom really wasn't prepared to knit and crochet a bunch of things for the sale, but thought I might be able to help out.
I still had lots of patterned paper left, so I kept going. I made a variety of cards this time. Sympathy, Congratulations, and more were good for single cards. It is great how even just a small change of font changes the entire look of the cards.
I finally decided to change up the design and use up the pattern paper until there was nothing left. They really turned out great, and gave me a chance to showcase some bold colours too. Funny thing about the vellum circles? We had them cut for a DIY project in our living room. I needed them to cover up the back of some lights and ended up with leftovers.
I spent 4 days working a good chunk of each day. I used up a bunch of my non-SU scrapbook paper and cardstock that I still have hanging around. I chose four pages of patterned paper that coordinate but are different base colours. I noticed a design earlier that week on Facebook that was easy but a great way to feature pretty paper. Thanks to my friend Tamara and her Mystery Card Monday, I had a place to start.
I chose a monochromatic look for four sets of Thank You cards. Each box has one of each colour in a pack of 4. I couldn't choose between two designs, nor could my daughter, so I ended up making two sets of each. I love how they turned out!

Sorry for the picture quality. I already had the cards packaged before I realized I should take pictures. The prospect 9f unwrapping all of them... well, that just wasn't going to happen.
Finally, I managed to use up all of that paper. I decided some Christmas cards would be great to add to the stack. I had some green patterns that worked really well along with some kraft brown and chocolate cardstocks. A touch of red with a ribbon, a deer and a window frame, and I had a lot of fun whipping together two different designs.

I really enjoyed getting back into my creative groove with this project. I even took an evening in the middle of it to go painting with my daughter. It had been so long since I had taken the time to dedicate myself to some me time. I hadn't realized how much I missed it.
I appreciated the chance to craft, and I love that I get to help out too. By the end of it all, I had 4 box sets of 4 Thank You cards, 16 Christmas cards and 28 assorted other cards to donate for the sale. I hope they do well!
